Why Is Oprah's Endorsements so Powerful

A Case Study Showing How Just Mentioning Her Name Can Create An Unknown Bestseller!

Oprah Winfrey is easily one of the most recognizable names on the planet. It is her charm, calm demeanor, and gift for gab, that has made her the wealthiest woman in the United States. So how did someone with an impoverished and troubled childhood grow to be so powerful?

Was it Luck or something else? We are not here to debate, how she came to be, in this article we will just demonstrate what we called the Power of O.

In this case study we hope to accomplish with the help of our friends at Social Media sites, such as Digg, Reddit, Propeller, Yahoo Buzz, and help from bloggers picking up this article and writing about it, and linking back to it, that we can duplicate what Oprah does and create an Unknown Bestseller.

Before we begin, let's take a brief look at the power of an Oprah Winfrey Endorsement.

Oprah Winfrey has nearly unparalleled influence compared to other celebrity figures. She has been named to Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people six times, and also in two centuries, the 20th and 21st.

Whether people want to admit it or not, her endorsing then relatively unknown Senator Barack Obama, was a primary reason he was elected, and dominated the popular vote for President of the United States.

When her name was falsely used as endorsing the miracle berry Acai, spammers went on to make millions by selling free trials that actually charged the users hundreds of dollars each on the back-end.

Each one of the first 40+ books that Oprah selected for her book club became top 200 best sellers. One book "Anna Karenina" had 11 thousand units sold prior to its inclusion in the 12 weeks prior to . In the 12 weeks that followed 643,122 units were sold.

If this is not enough, her magazine titled "O", says on average 2.4 million issues each month.

So just exactly how does "The Power of O", work. Well it's simple. As we will demonstrate below. Oprah first selects a book, that she claims touched her heart. People begin to notice the book. Their minds, say, if it is good enough for Oprah, it's good enough for my collection. This increase exposure, causes the book to make a few sales, which gains the attention of bookstores. They position the Oprah Endorsed Book to the front of their stores, and the result is a NY TIMES, Best-seller.

We believe that simply by mentioning her name in an article, we can create an Unknown Bestseller. Google will unknowingly help us, as they will also send a flood of traffic to this article, which will cause more exposure for the book we pick. To spice things, up a little bit more, we will not pick a novel that appeals to a mass audience, and instead opt for a book in a lesser known Genre.

Using the Power of O, we endorse Dutchess At The Time of this writing March 24th 2010, exactly 3:32 AM Eastern time, this novel had an Amazon sales rank of 2,550,630. The lower the number the better.
